1. First choose a conveniently located fencing club.
2. You may attend the first several classes wearing a track suit and tennis shoes. The coach will provide you with fencing gear. Subsequently you will be able to buy your own gear.
3. Be patient. Fencing is a technically complex sport. Before you can start fencing, you must learn the stance, movements, and weapon handling techniques. But your efforts will not be in vain, as you will be able to practice fencing for the rest of your life.
4. For starters, it is recommended to exercise with the foil, which is the lightest weapon. Eventually you will be able to select the type of weapon that fits you best.
